Laura’s jewelry designing journey started when she won what appeared to be a quality beach-themed bracelet that included freshwater pearls. When it arrived, she was appalled to discover that the entire item was plastic - including the pearls. As a personal challenge to prove that she could design and create a comparable piece using real pearls, shells and actual metals at a much more affordable price, she discovered a passion and an obsession to create affordable yet exquisite jewelry that truly offers her clients an unmatched experience for self expression.
Joining Laura on this adventure is Virginia, our dedicated Administrator and Management Consultant. A testament to our excellence, Virginia's journey began as a loyal client who fell in love with our products and eventually became a valued partner in 2022.
As we look to the future, our vision is clear: to lead the custom jewelry design industry and be the ultimate destination for designer jewelry.
I'm Laura Szymczak, the creative mind behind UJD. For over 18 years, I've been crafting unique jewelry as the designer, creator, and owner of our company based in New Jersey. In 2022, my work gained recognition when I designed a collection for the South Brunswick Public Library to celebrate the remarkable women of the town. This collection was auctioned off and raised over $1,500 for the library's expansion project, marking a proud moment in my career. Additionally, I was honored as a featured artist at the Union Craft Crawl.
My journey as a jewelry designer in New Jersey began as a self-challenge after receiving a bracelet of which the quality was grossly misrepresented. Determined to offer higher-quality pieces, I delved into the craft and discovered a passion I couldn't ignore. Throughout my artistic journey, I've never duplicated a design. Each piece manifests my continuous exploration and evolution as an artist. While I occasionally create series with different "flavors," I thrive on pushing the boundaries of my creativity and ensuring that every piece I create is as unique as the individual who wears it. It brings me immense joy to know that my designs not only adorn my clients but also make them feel truly extraordinary.
Alongside my creative pursuits, I indulge in chocolate-making and organic gardening and even discovered a talent for singing and performing with fellow musicians.
I'm Virginia Dare, your go-to Administrator/ Management Advisor and facilitator at UJD. With over 20 years of experience and a Master's degree from Rutgers University, I bring forth a wealth of knowledge and expertise. My journey began in higher education, where I honed my skills in business and financial management before transitioning into the private sector to support Laura's vision.
Business isn’t my only interest, I'm also passionate about health and community. As a Sales Manager and Distributor of FitLine products, I advocate for the best nutritional supplements on the market. And when I'm not crunching numbers or promoting wellness, you can find me rolling up my sleeves as a dedicated volunteer for the Boy Scouts of America, making a positive impact in my community.
My journey into management wasn't by chance; it was fueled by a genuine love for working with people and supporting their success. Now, as part of the UJD team, I'm excited to blend my years of experience with my passion for collaboration and innovation.
